Do you buy non-essential back up’s?

Over on Purse Forum, there is a thread I’ve just posted in called “Do you buy non-essential back up’s?” wherein the original poster, Millee, asked:

I don’t just mean your daily face type things (primers, foundations, concealer, etc…), I mean things you really don’t NEED but just really want lipstick or eyeshadow or blush or something similar you really loved and just had to buy a back-up of?

For me, I bought an Avon colortrend eyeliner in midnight blue and the blue was the most perfect navy for my brown eyes that when I found out it was being discontinued I bought 15 of them on eBay (they’re only $1 each)!

I’m also considering buying a back-up of Lorac’s multi-platinum palette, I think it’s the prettiest eye look I’ve ever been able to do and the thought of ever running out makes me so sad.

What are yours if any?

I’m curious and thought it warranted a mini-blog post on this dreary Saturday (whinged about over at new blog, called BBJ on Toast, more like a diary than this) as the answers would definitely entertain me!

Oh, and while we’re at it, this is my answer to the thread:

Orgasm, the NARS blush because once upon a time I couldn’t imagine doing my makeup without it (says she who now has 42 other blushes cough cough). “Do you really gotta stock up on Orgasm’s?” my friend said hahaha.
Australis Stayput wind-up eyeliner in brown – this is an amazing eyeliner that I now try to wear once a week (only costs $8AUD and when I was younger I wore it as an eyeshadow also) as I have so many stocked up.
Napoleon Perdis pencil eyeliner in Grey Matters – it’s the perfect eyeliner for me these days. Or their pencil eyeliner in the gold one.
I think I’ve also got doubles of one of my “works every time” mascara’s – 2000 Calorie by Max Factor but I think my fave one is the dramatic look in rich brown, and I bought double up’s by accident in the curved brush in black. Woops!

Then I have back up’s of my fave compact powder by Napoleon Perdis (Camera Finish) and concealers (Rimmel Match Perfection in the squeezy tube, and Revlon Photo Ready concealer in the stick) as well as a every colour possible in the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector.

Post yours in the comments below? I’d love to hear from everyone :-)

Blush: A Collective

I’ve seen around and about online lately a lot of inventory posts. It’s been on my To Do List for a while now & finally I’m doing it. It’s dreary gray weather so these BlackBerry camera pics on my bed are going to have to do as I have no sun nor a DSLR at hand to make them any prettier.

A total of 44 items, I think. My maths is horrible.

Anyway. Without a doubt, some of these are not classified as blush normally, however they’re what I pop in the “Blushers & Cream Based” part of my KEIJO 4 drawer (this stuff is in the deepest one at the bottom) and I tend to use them all as such – on the cheeks & that general part of my face.

I was going to do a heap of swatches but right now is not a good time & seeing as I want to keep this quick, I’m not going to worry about it for now!

How many blush items do you have? Are there any that aren’t here that you think I might like? Let me know!

Til next time…

Day 20: Lemmings

Beauty Ban (March 29th – September 29th in preparation for IMATS and to allow me to save and pay off my car) is almost three weeks in and I have to say at times this has been truly one of the more difficult will-power themed things I’ve done in my 23 years of living.

Not eating chocolate? No problems!
Going to the gym even though I’m half asleep and don’t want to? What a breeze!
Not going into the MYER cosmetic counters? … Struggle. Street. Oh my goodness!!!

I’ve found that my list-making addiction has come in handy during these moments of weakness, I simply take or save a picture then add it to my list of lemmings and promise myself that I’ll take a look in 23 weeks and 4 days when I’m off the Beauty Ban. Knowing full well that I will forget and by then be much more interested in newer, shinier things!

Day 20 finds me lusting after these prettily packaged temptations…

Now ordinarily if I wasn’t on a Beauty Ban (wherein the main aim is to STOP, think about the purchase, and then wait a bit before getting them or deciding not to get them anymore as they’re not something I really want) I would jump to it and make some orders quick-smart.

As it is, I know for sure that the Edward Bess and YSL products are on my list to be considered as the Monthly Reward (1 beauty product allowed on the 29th of every month after due consideration of if I really want that product or if I already have something that could do the job) and the LUSH product is most definitely going to be what I switch my “five clean black pots” for when visiting Brisbane at the beginning of May. I’ve done my research and only hear good things about these products – in fact, the EB cream blush was almost a done deal just before the Ban but I was a good girl and cancelled it in anticipation of saving it for one of my Monthly Rewards.

I think by having these sorts of ‘allowances’ for myself in such a Beauty Ban, I’m not really being as strict as I could be, however I’m building in these ‘allowances’ so that the Ban isn’t broken in a massive multi-binge shopping session, or worse an ongoing “add to cart” click-a-thon! I think I’ll be doing some more posts like this to ease the overactive lemming brain cell I seem to have.

What’s on your Lusty Lemmings List today? Please do share… I’d love to know in the comments or link me to a similar post!

Until next time,
Dustyn
